The SCRA is very proud to announce that their FTC team the Cyber Eagles, battled back after a very technically challenging season to join the alliance captain SWAT Bots Red (FTC 10015) and alliance partner SWAT Bots Black (FTC 16595) in the Alberta FTC Championship competition. This powerful alliance proved to be too strong to be defeated and came out on top, securing a ticket to the FIRST Worlds Championship event in Houston for SWAT Bots Red. Congratulations on your well deserved Victory!
Throughout the year, when the Cyber Eagles were not working on their robot, they were in the community supporting the Boys and Girls Club in Ft. Saskatchewan, Scouts Canada, and mingling with local industries at various events. They were also doing all kinds of research into advanced technologies that can be applied to our robots to improve performance and reliability. All of these efforts contributed to the Cyber Eagles winning the coveted INSPIRE Award, the highest honor available in our region. In recognition of this honor, the INSPIRE Award winning team is also presented with the opportunity to participate at the FIRST Worlds Championship event in Houston! Congratulations Cyber Eagles on securing another trip to Houston!
Unfortunately, due to the current Global Pandemic of the Corona Virus, all FIRST events have been postponed or cancelled including World Championships in Houston and Detroit. Obviously our students and coaches/mentors are very disappointed in this situation, but we acknowledge that the health and safety of all participants and their families are paramount. We look forward and will begin to prepare for next season .
The Cyber Eagles are busy working on getting their robot ready for the final round of competition in Northern Alberta. Looking forward to getting together with other teams in the region and seeing how their robots have evolved since round 4.
After a very disappointing outcome in the 1st round, the Cyber Eagles took time to re-calibrate their robot design and programming for improved efficiency and reliability. A great deal of time, effort and commitment resulted in a new intake/output design, an innovative Skystone intake and a ground breaking navigation system. As a result, the Eagles soared above the rest and finished the day with 5 wins and no losses. Although they are very pleased with the result, they are not content. They see opportunities to improve and over the next few weeks, they will continue to adjust, tweak, and re-evaluate their existing systems and explore new ones.
Looking forward to the next round in Lacombe, Alberta. Feb 29, 2020
TEAM X has been working hard in preparation for the Northern Alberta Championship, and their hard work sure paid off.
Leading for most of the competition and finishing in second place, they demonstrated to the other 40 or so teams, that they were a team that is not only determined, but also very creative and technically skilled. Winning the “Mechanical Design Award”, their advanced design rose above the competition. CONGRATULATIONS to this team of INNOVATORS!
